Juan Antonio Mazariegos Puertas is a Guatemalan attorney and notary specializing in the prevention, management and resolution of complex disputes, with an emphasis on domestic and international arbitration, commercial law, technology, construction, public procurement and investment.

He holds a master’s degree in Common Law and a certificate in International Dispute Resolution from Georgetown University Law Center (Washington, D.C.), strengthening his practice in international arbitration and cross-border disputes. He is also a candidate for admission to the New York Bar in 2027.

His career combines professional, institutional and academic experience. He has helped manage and design innovative arbitral procedures at domestic and international arbitration centers, including the IBT Arbitration Center, promoting efficient and affordable access to arbitral justice. His professional practice has involved commercial, technology, energy, environmental, construction and investment disputes, as well as administrative sanction proceedings.

He is a speaker and author on arbitration, international trade, technology, blockchain and alternative dispute resolution. He also serves as Head Coach of the Universidad Rafael Landívar team for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, helping train future international arbitration specialists. 

In 2026, he was selected as a Weinstein JAMS International Fellow, a recognition highlighting his international profile in dispute resolution. He is distinguished by his strategic approach, practical focus on results, capacity for innovation and close client relationships.
